Here’s a gathering of items you may be interested in, especially if you are local!
– A project that’s near and dear to me: The Parkrose Community Orchard is having a work party tomorrow in celebration of Comunity Orchards Month. If you are still feeling jazzed about Earth Day and want to check out this amazing project, look for me tomorrow morning! I’m not hosting, just participating, but would love to see my neighbors there.
– Growing Gardens is also in need of your support. This amazing organization promotes community gardens in schools, garden education and job training in prisons, and home gardens for families with low income. I have been promoting these folks ever since they graciously agreed to provide me with resources that are helping me get this market garden off the ground. Please take a moment to check out their GoFundMe Campaign and/or send it along to anyone you think might be interested in contributing.
– Lastly, I’m excited to be nearing completion of my application and training process to become a participating farm in the Oregon Farm Direct Nutrition Program . Once inducted, I’ll be able to accept seasonal WIC and Senior vouchers for fresh produce at my farmer’s market booth and farmstands. Most farmer’s markets encourage or require vendors to accept these, and it’s been a goal of mine to get enrolled. Looking forward to increasing access to my fruit and veggies!
